Gait Analysis

Gait analysis is the overview of how you walk or run and how this may be affecting your body. At Blackberry Clinic Milton Keynes we offer a full assessment of your running style. The initial assessment is a 1-hour consultation with a physiotherapist which will consist of 3 parts: subjective assessment or running history, functional assessment and video analysis. This is also known as Biomechanical Assessment.

Conditions treated with Gait Analysis

At Blackberry Running Clinic our expert physiotherapy team assess movement control, muscle strength and length to identify any deficit that may contribute to movement dysfunction or impact on running form. These measurements will be carried out at the beginning of your initial consultation and will guide your exercise programme.

During your initial assessment your physiotherapist will ask you to run on a treadmill and take short video clips of your running from different angles. Whilst on the treadmill, the physiotherapist will count how many strides you are taking per minute (cadence) and may try to influence your running style by asking you to follow some ‘cues’. Any change in running style with these will be recorded and will be used to guide the technique coaching.
