Musculoskeletal Medicine

Musculoskeletal Medicine (MSK Medicine) is a specialised medical field dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of problems arising from the musculoskeletal system. This includes injuries and diseases affecting the muscles, bones and joints of the limbs and spine. MSK doctors treat these conditions without surgical intervention. They are medical doctors who often hold additional qualifications in General Practice and Sport & Exercise Medicine. These doctors are experts at diagnosis and perform fluoroscopic x-ray and ultrasound guided pain-relieving injections for acute and chronic conditions including arthritis and sports injuries.

Treatments for Musculoskeletal Medicine

Our Musculoskeletal Medicine and Sport & Exercise Medicine Doctors offer a variety of treatments following a thorough consultation and assessment of the musculoskeletal system. They often refer patients for manual therapy with physios, osteopaths and chiropractors but offer steroid joint injections, hyaluronic acid injections, prolotherapy, PRP (platelet rich plasma), trigger point injections and other treatments for stubborn cases.

They perform pain relieving injections for severe back pain, such as caudal epidurals, prolotherapy, radiofrequency denervation and nerve root block injections. See below for a full range of interventional treatments available. They work closely with the local radiologists and it is possible to have an MRI and report within 48 hours depending on location and availability.

Blackberry Clinic receives glowing feedback!

Thanks to Mr Reissis and his advice, I was able to regain more than 75% of my mobility.

Nikos Reissis offers MSK treatments including joint injections and shockwave ultrasound. He is able to offer treatments and advice for arthritis and other chronic MSK conditions as well as sports injury treatment for tendinopathy and muscle tears and strains.

Me Reissis

I had an appointment with Dr Udaya Chakka with whom I had radiofrequency ablation of bilateral L4/L5 and L5/S1 facet joints.

I would be very grateful if you could inform him that the result is amazing and I can walk and move with no pain and can sleep undisturbed again. I am very grateful to him and your team and although it is always a pleasure, I hope it is a long time before I see you again !!

I wanted to share my gratitude with you following my Facet Joint Denervation in May. I am now 6 weeks on and I have gone from being able to do less than 200 steps a day to 6000 steps. My pain is greatly reduced, to almost non-existent, causing my moods and general health to be so much better.

I am even signed up to do the Million Step Challenge. Thank you so much for all your help and being such a kind and welcoming team. I will be forever grateful for you to giving me my life back.
