The hip is a ball and socket joint and is normally very strong and stable. It is supported by a strong network of tendons, muscles and ligaments. Hip pain is a common complaint and can be caused by a variety of different structures
The most common condition causing hip pain is osteoarthritis, due to ‘wear and tear’ of the hip joint. Other conditions causing hip pain are muscle strain, tendonitis, fracture, bursitis, capsular tear or a structural disorder of the hip causing impingement due to labral tear. Snapping hip is another common condition. You can also get pain in your hip which may be referred from your lower back. If you require orthotics you may experience hip pain caused by biomechanical imbalance.

I first went to The Blackberry Clinic after hurting my hip in a skiing accident. I had a couple of physio sessions where I was told it was likely to be a bone problem. My physio was right, and after having hip surgery I went straight back to the clinic where I am now having sessions again to build up the strength and mobility in the muscles around my hip. The physio is so professional, as is everyone there and I have every faith she will have me back on track in no time!
