There are many ways physio can help with back pain. At Blackberry Clinic our physios take great care to take a comprehensive history and do a physical examination to determine the most likely cause of your back pain. We know many physiotherapists  are offering telephone or online advice and there is nothing wrong with this at all as it sometimes suits those with a busy life style who do not feel they can take time out of their lives to visit a physio. However, at Blackberry Clinic we really do  believe in the power of ‘hands on’ physiotherapy with specific taught exercises and advice that is tailored to you and your lifestyle.

Back pain can have a variety of underlying causes and it is important to assess why you have back pain and when it started. Acute back pain may be discogenic in nature, with a ‘slipped’ or prolapsed disc pressing on the sciatic or other nerves in the back.

Facet joints in the back can also become stiff and stuck, irritating nerves in the back and causing discomfort. These types of back pain present with different symptoms and movement patterns which is why it is important to see a physio in person so they can assess the way you move and see what you are having difficulty with. This is something that can be hard to explain over the phone!

In addition, our physios at Blackberry Clinic work closely with our MSK and SEM doctors, as well as other practitioners like chiropractors and osteopaths who may be able to help if physio is not the right answer for your back. This multi disciplinary approach is very successful, as not one approach will suit every patient.
