Dr Petrides takes the stage at BASEM’s annual conference

Blackberry at the BASEM Conference 3

Dr Simon Petrides attended the British Sport and Exercise Medicine Annual Conference on May 27th at the Grand hotel in Brighton. He chaired the MSK special interest group in the morning and lectured on sacroiliac joint examination.

Following two enlightening and well researched presentations from Dr Pete Morgan and Dr Giles Hazan, Dr Petrides presented on the history and clinical signs presenting in patients with sacroiliac joint pain.

Dr Petrides on stage with Oli Petrides as his  model!

The key points were:

1) The history and examination are fundamental.

2) The SI Joint pain provocation tests can be helpful for diagnosing SI ‘joint’ pain.

3) Some of these tests may be positive in SI ‘ligament’ pain.

4) Diagnostic injections can help differentiate SI joint from ligament pain.

The session was a practical demonstration of these clinical tests in front of an interested audience.

The session will soon be available on the BASEM website in the members area.

Here are the details of the other lectures and lecturers.
