Mum Review at Blackberry Clinic

Mum-Review

We are delighted to be offering a Mum Review as part of our new Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service at Blackberry Clinic Milton Keynes. Our specialist pelvic health physio is Jo Dyson who has done additional training in obstetrics and gynaecology to become a pelvic health physiotherapist. One of the consultations offered is a Mum Review, offering that extra support and advice and tackling issues that may arise after giving birth.

Our Mum Review is a thorough post-birth check-up for mums, with our specialist pelvic health physiotherapist. She will start by taking some details about your birth experience and your subsequent recovery. It’s an opportunity to discuss any concerns about your pelvic health following your delivery, (which may encompass bladder/bowel/sexual function and vaginal prolapse).

Ultimately, it is never too late to benefit from a postnatal Mum Review, so if it is weeks, months or even years since you had your baby (or babies) and there is a problem, we can help you; it’s never too late.

Our role is to support you in your recovery after your birth. If your goal is to return to running, Crossfit or just to be able to run after the children in comfort, without pain or leaking, then we will guide you in the best way to reach that goal. Our sessions are bespoke to meet your needs. We can teach a progressive course of functional exercise for your pelvic floor and abdominal area so that you can enjoy Mum life to the full.

Some people come for our feedback on their postnatal recovery and some simple advice, having made a good recovery so far. This may be a one-off visit having taught some basic exercises and given appropriate suggestions on return to activity/exercise.

Other people come with a specific problem following their birth, for example urinary leaking, pelvic organ prolapse, on-going abdominal separation, painful sex, pelvic pain etc and this visit may be the start of a course of treatment to address it.

If you have a straightforward vaginal birth, we suggest no sooner than 6 weeks after your delivery, and if you have a C section or instrumental delivery then please wait until at least 8 weeks afterwards.

If you think you would benefit from a Mum Review, give us a call on 01908 604666 or email reception@blackberryclinic.co.uk
