There are a lot of problems with the workspace illustrated above! This chap is clearly experiencing pain and discomfort which could be so easily avoided with some adjustments to his working environment!
Many of you may be working from home for the foreseeable future and may not have access to your usual office equipment. However, it is vitally important to get home workstations set up to ensure you are sitting comfortably and that your posture is good. Optimal desk posture will help prevent back and neck strain as well as preventing repetitive strain injury of your wrists and forearms. Not all of you will have access to an adjustable swivel chair but it is important that you choose a chair that has good back support and can be brought in close to the desk, for instance a chair with arms would mean that you could not pull it in close to the desk.
It is important that you have your eyes level with the top of your computer monitor, or just below, and the monitor should be roughly arms length away. You may have to lift your monitor up off the surface of the desk, you can do this using a box file or a big book. Play around with the height until you feel that you do not have to bend your neck up or down to look at the monitor. You will quickly feel a strain on your neck if your monitor is too high or too low!
One of the most important aspects of correct desk posture is to make sure your feet are flat on the floor.
