This is increasingly encountered in the Blackberry Clinic and is due to abnormal functioning of the sacroiliac joints and symphysis pubis during and after pregnancy and can be debilitating.
Treatment by an osteopath, chiropractor or physiotherapist is recommended although refractory cases can be treated by cortisone injection into the offending joint under X-ray guidance or prolotherapy injections of hypertonic dextrose under X-ray guidance to strengthen the ligaments thus stabilising the joints.
