Dr Peter Florida-James - Croydon & Guildford


peter floridaDr Peter Florida-James qualified from Bristol University and after his basic medical training, trained as a GP in Banbury and Oxford, where he was involved in setting up one of the first cardiac rehabilitation exercise schemes in the country. He then undertook training as a Public Health Doctor in the West Midlands and worked as a consultant in Health Promotion in Birmingham on the Healthy Birmingham 2000 project. He returned to General Practice in Birmingham before moving to Slough,to a large General Practice, where he further developed his interest in Sports Medicine. He joined Queens Park Rangers FC in 2005/06 part time and he has maintained his links with General Practice, where he sees a wide variety of general musculoskeletal problems. He runs the injury audit at the club's Head of Medical Services and supervises players rehabilitation programmes.

He has also spent a number of years working as a Musculoskeletal doctor in the the armed services MIAC clinics, treating injured personnel, in the Midlands. He has also been the attending Doctor to Cirque de Soleil on tour and supported a Premier League Hockey Club.

He still finds time to run, having previously played volleyball and orienteering for Ireland. He also enjoys skiing, which he took up a few years ago, with his seven children.
