Madeleine Nazareth
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, MCSP, SRP
Bupa Health Advisor
Madeleine prides herself in putting her clients immediately at ease and quickly getting to the crux of their problems, whether they are training for a marathon or simply struggling to bend down and put on their socks. She understands the drive for patient-centred care, recognising that every person has needs that must be met no matter how big or small. She efficiently identifies and addresses these individual needs to deliver patient specific treatments, with an holistic approach to all those in her care.
Madeleine's enthusiasm for sport, coupled with her enjoyment of working with people, led her to study Physiotherapy at the University of the West of England, Bristol, where she graduated with a First Class honours degree. Madeleine decided to specialise in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, as this is where her passion lies and it is here that she excels and gains maximum job fulfilment. During her spare time, Madeleine enjoys Zumba, horse riding, running, swimming, aerobics and Pilates.
Having also trained as a Bupa Health Advisor, Madeleine is able to deliver comprehensive health screens, which have developed her skills in exercise prescription, lifestyle analysis, diet and nutrition. She effectively integrates this into her Physiotherapy sessions, promoting overall health and wellbeing.
The key problem areas that Madeleine tends to see and treat are the lower back, neck, knee and shoulder. Many postural and work related injuries, including repetitive strain injuries come through her door. Having worked in the NHS and the private sector, Madeleine has a wealth of experience which she is able to draw upon when treating a variety of other conditions, including sports injuries.
Madeleine strongly believes that patients should be kept fully informed at each stage of their treatment and encourages them to take an active role within this process to aid optimal recovery from injury. She aims to provide a professional opinion of the client's condition and uses a combination of treatment techniques to help ease their pain and improve function. These may involve peripheral joint/spinal mobilisations and manipulation, Acupuncture (including trigger point/dry needling), Electrotherapy (Ultrasound, TENS), practical taping for sports injuries and postural problems, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Muscle Energy Techniques, soft tissue massage, myofascial release and stretches.
Tailored exercise programmes, including Pilates and postural strengthening, gait re-education, sports rehabilitation and weight training principles, have proved beneficial to patients by complementing the effects of "hands on" treatment. Madeleine is truly passionate about her work and committed to providing the best standard of care to all patients. With very high expectations for herself and her clients, she tries to ensure her sessions are interesting and varied, and consistently reviews her clients' progress to ensure they are achieving personal goals as quickly as possible.
