Alex Coomber

Olympic Medallist Alex Coomber has been involved in the world of sport most of her life. As a junior she reached National level in athletics and had a long distinguished career in skeleton bobsleigh as a senior. She was British champion for 6 consecutive years, and World Cup Champion for 3. This culminated in an Olympic Bronze Medal at Salt Lake City in 2002.

Her early profession was in The Royal Air Force, where she served for 8 years. On leaving she qualified as a gym and fitness instructor, later adding sports massage therapy and Personal Training. She started her physiotherapy training in 2011, graduating in 2014. She has also completed the BMAC Foundation Course in Acupuncture. Her experience in the NHS included stroke, elderly and paediatric care and musculo-skeletal. Since graduating Alex has focused wholly on musculo- skeletal caseloads.

Alex's approach to her patients is one of holistic therapy. The aim being to treat specific areas within the context of the individual as a whole. She is also keen to educate patients to better self –manage their conditions and rehabilitation, promoting a healthy active lifestyle.

Married with two children and two dogs, Alex likes to keep busy. She enjoys travelling, skiing and running. She has run numerous marathons and competes in ultra -marathons of up to 100 miles. She is member of the CSP and HCPC.
