Lorena Solarte

Lorena SolarteLorena is originally from Colombia where she trained and qualified as a physiotherapist. Her initial experience in Colombia included working as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist with orthopaedic consultants in a rehabilitation clinic. She also had valuable experience working with the physio team at a professional football club.

After moving to the UK Lorena gained her HPC registration as a physiotherapist at UCL. She then worked at Kings College Hospital in London for 5 years, where she gained vast experience treating different musculoskeletal injuries in the outpatient settings and inpatients in orthopaedics. She continued broadening her musculoskeletal skills working for University College Hospital (UCH), where she worked in various fields such as rheumatology, spinal disorders and upper and lower limb injuries.

During her time at UCH Lorena gained experience in management of chronic pain, rheumatology conditions as well as managing the hydrotherapy pool. Shealso set up classes for low back pain, core stability and lower limb injuries.

Lorena was a competitive swimmer at national level in Colombia and has continued swimming at a non-competitive level. She understands the impact of sport injuries and the importance of good advice and an appropriate plan for recovery. Lorenahas clinical interests in sports physiotherapy, movement dysfunctions, orthopaedics, shoulder and spinal pain.

She uses different treatment skills including manual therapy, soft tissue techniques and a comprehensive exercise programme to help patients fully recover and manage their condition. For Lorena it is very important that we can all understand how our body works and how we can continue to look after it.
