Here at the Blackberry Gymnasium we really do
appreciate the importance of exercise for all
age groups and this is why we welcome Junior Members
into our membership scheme. As the safety and
well being of the juniors is of paramount importance
to us we have drawn up the following guidelines
for junior membership.
Junior Membership age group is 12 to 16
12 to 14 age group are to be accompanied by
an adult at all times when using the gym. (unless prior aggrement has been sought from gym manager)
Our fitness consultants will be on hand to answer
any queries and offer assistance, but cannot guarantee
the one-to-one attention some juniors may require.
Junior members of 12 to 14 may attend with a responsible
adult, aged 17 or over subject to parental agreement
arranged with the gym staff.
12 to 16 are not permitted to use free or
static weights.
This decision has been reached following lengthy
research and ongoing discussions with our physiotherapists
and fitness advisors. The following facts have
been established:
Weight lifting (using maximum weights) is prohibited
and most reported injuries in children occur during
unsupervised sessions and when attempting a maximal
lift. Weight training in adolescents is generally
beneficial providing a fitness instructor closely
supervises the youth.
Each junior member will be taken through a full
induction and have a fitness programme written
for them that takes into account their particular
needs and interests.
Junior Pass is £30 for the first 10 visits.
This is a blue card pass, that is stamped each
time they come. There is no time limit on it so
it can be used sporadically.
Monthly Subscription can be paid by direct
debit. The fee is £20 per month. A parent or guardian
must fill in the Direct Debit form.
Children who are not junior members are not to
be allowed to use or play with any equipment.
Parents must be responsible for these children
at all times.
