Pre-Pilates For Body Conditioning
and Lower Back Stability
An exercise class to suit people of all ages
and abilities. A relaxing way to strengthen the
lower back, mind and body. Originally developed
for dancers in the 1920's, this unique discipline
for holistic strength and flexibility has grown
into an innovative and popular exercise class.
PILATES is wholly recommended by osteopaths, physiotherapists
and chiropractors and can provide long term relief
from lower back pain.
PILATES is a floor-based class that focuses on
improving flexibility, strength and muscle tone.
The movements are slow, controlled and fluid with
an emphasis on mind and body awareness. The objective
of PILATES is to teach correct breathing and movement
techniques to improve posture as well as abdominal
and spinal control.

Course Description
This four-week course teaches 9 pre mat exercises
and some mat exercises for beginning and intermediate
levels. The six basic Polestar Pilates Principles
are incorporated into the learning process, to
provide a clear understanding of the underlying
fundaments of each mat exercise.
Structure:
A course of four sessions lasting 45 minutes
each over four weeks. Maximum of 5 in a session.
Incorporating full Polestar Pilates fitness screening,
including postural assessment and movement analysis
prior to 1st session. Instructors will liaise
with relevant practitioners if client is under
treatment and has been referred.
Who:
Anyone who has never done Pilates before, those
who have attended classes but are unsure if they
are performing the movements correctly, people
who are worried about participating in a class
due to and existing injury.
Clothing and Equipment:
Wear something loose and comfortable that is
easy too more around in. For example; Jogging
bottoms, leggings or shorts and a T-shirt. Please
could you also bring along a towel, which may
be used as a small prop for some exercises.
We are currently offering afternoon or evening courses on Tuesdays @ 1:00pm or 6:00pm
