What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is a manual therapy. Our Chiropractors use gentle and specific techniques to align the joints and therefore restore nerve and muscle function, and balance. The aim of the treatment is to relieve pain and reduce muscle spasm, as well as to help restricted joints to move more freely. Many people see a Chiropractor for mechanical back pain, muscle spasms and general aches and pains.

Human bodies have to cope with stresses of many kinds, such as physical, chemical and psychological stresses. This can lead to muscle spasm and possibly joint stiffness, which in turn can cause nerve tension such as Sciatica or neuralgia. The nervous system controls tension of muscles and abnormal function can create muscle spasm or muscle weakness.

Chiropractors often talk about rehabilitation. This is the re-education of muscles and joints to help them start working effectively again after an injury or a period of misuse. It does not take long for the body to adopt bad habits and incorrect muscle function, but it takes longer to re-programme or correct these bad habits.

Being in pain and discomfort is energy consuming and affects all aspects of one's life - personal, social and professional. But by getting into alignment and becoming balanced, your body will be helped to feel more relaxed and comfortable. During our clinical experience, we see patients becoming more and more flexible and reporting less pain. Some have reported being able to bend and touch the floor for the first time in years.

All of our Chiropractors are registered with the General Chiropractic Council and are members of the British Chiropractic Association.
